Topshop Cream Blush Duo | Up in the air

Following on from yesterday’s post about my thrifty £2.70 lipstick I’m back with another item of makeup from the Louise Gray collection for Topshop.  A creamy blusher for a measly £2.70!! Yes £2.70 I kid you not!  And you get two colours for that price! I love blusher! I think it’s perhaps one of the key elements within a make-up bag because if you’re anything like me, it can make me look in the land of the living instead of looking like a dead corpse. I find it really surprising seeing young girls just caked in foundation without an ounce of blusher in sight! It actually drives me mad! (Perhaps a slight exaggeration but you understand my point) since when has the all over mouldy tangerine look been a good look by anyone’s standards? So please young readers embrace the blush!! But be careful it must be blended in well and look somewhat natural as you don’t want big thick lines of pink blusher (other colours are available)!

Anyway enough of me ranting and raving about lack of blusher on the nations cheeks. This blusher is fabulous! I went through a stage a while ago of loving cream blushers after buying the Max Factor Miracle Touch Creamy Blush and I thought it was brilliant but I’ve always preferred powders ones I just think they’re so much easier to apply! Personally I think this blusher is miles ahead of the Max Factor blush purely because of the consistency it’s not as creamy feeling if that makes sense? It has a cream to powder formula which makes applying so much easier! Don’t be put off by how bright the colours look as they’re perfect for giving a healthy glow and its great having two colours to switch between as they’re both lovely so for the price I really can’t fault it.

Much like the previous Louise Gray product I’m still not won over by the packaging! I suppose this is a little better than the lipstick packaging but I don’t think the gold zigzags are necessary and just cheapen the product which is a real shame. Since reading reviews from other bloggers I feel like I’m alone in this as most are applauding the packaging. What are your views on the packaging?  When it comes to make up packaging simplicity always wins as its classic and sophisticated that doesn’t mean it has to be boring just simple or fun but executed well (benefit does it great)

If you spot one of these is your local Topshop I would definitely buy with no hesitation as you will not be disappointed in these two stunning blushers?

Is everyone having a great weekend so far? I’ve been catching up on silent witness waiting for it to snow a bit more!

Topshop | Mexican Wave Lipstick

I bought this lipstick, along with a few other items, the other week in the TOPSHOP sale, the only reason I bought it was because it was such a steal at being reduced to £3.00 and then with student discount £2.70 I think you’ll agree that it would have been rude to leave it there? Plus I hadn't tried anything from the Louise Gray range as I’ve always been a bit dubious as most of the products are all a little bright and garish for my liking. I’ve always been fan of coral lipsticks although I don’t always think the really vibrant ones suit me as I’m quite pale, the exception to the rule is the Kate Moss Rimmel lipstick in 110 it's just bright enough to suit my skin tone and a mix between a pinkish reddish orange so it’s perfect for both day and night, so if you’re similar skin tone to me give it a try!

Be warned this lipstick is bright! But with a name like Mexican wave what do you expect? Not as bright as it first looks. The pink/orange neon tone is definitely more suited to going out at night and perhaps teamed something simple like an LBD to just add a bit of ‘pop’ (bit of a lame word but that’s exactly what this lipstick would do) This colour doesn’t look horrible on but it could look better! Although I think it would look better in summer when I’ve got a tan as it wouldn’t look such a contrast against my pale wintery skin tone. The feel of the lipstick is lovely, its creamy and velvety and smells lovely too! It’s a matt finish but doesn’t leave your lips dry and that chalky feeling you can sometimes get with matt lipsticks,

Personally I think the packaging really lets this lipstick down, the pink and gold just cheapens the lipstick and looks like something someone much younger may be drawn to. Although the packaging lets the lipstick down, the formula of it is perfect it’s just a slight shame about the colour! Although for £2.70 who can complain!

Happy Friday!!

Links Of London | Shell Charm

Yesterday, Jordan (my boyfriend) surprised me with this lovely little gift! How Thoughtful of him! (that almost sounds patronising and a little sarcastic but it isn't intended I was blissfully surprised !  I've always loved links of London and own 4 of their bracelets my favourite being the sweetie bracelet which very rarely leaves my wrist! I think I prefer the charms more than say Pandora as they're bigger than therefore have more detail and although they aren't cheap at £45.00 they seem better value for money, they are also quite heavy, which is always a bonus! He bought me the zebra charm to wear on my necklace but that has since been replaced with this 'lucky catch shell' although I will probably alternate between the two as 'Ralph' (zebra charm) is  fun and colourful. Personally I love this charm and I think the little pearl inside is especially cute, it looks classy and dainty too and it looks great on my necklace :)

I hope this charm gives me luck as I have a law exam tomorrow :(

I was an angel. Living in the garden of evil.

50 things to do in 500 days

Start day : Today!! 15.01.2012

I know it’s a little late for new years resolutions and I've never really been a fan of them anyway as I always think of rubbish ones such as not swearing and sometimes I do have a bit of a potty mouth but everyone has those days right? So I thought I would conduct a 50 things to do in 500 days it was inspired by Aoife but I felt 101 was a little too excessive so I thought 50 seemed just a about right plus one of my favourite films is 500 days of summer (typical girl) so it seemed almost perfect. Surprisingly finding 50 things to do actually took a fairly long time, I thought it would be easy but there aren't really that many things I want to achieve, well there is but 500 days seems such a short time period so I just thought of ones that I think would be fairly easy to achieve and wouldn't cost mountains of money.

Cause I cant go on if your love isn't strong

I feel slightly nervous writing my first blog post, is this normal? I’m quite sure its probably not normal but oh well.. anyway a quick little bit of information about myself and who I am as a person and what this blog with contain.

Hi…I’m Abi and currently living in Sheffield studying real estate at Sheffield Hallam university. The course wasn’t my first option as I’ve never really known what I wanted to do, but I think I made the correct decision :)

I've always enjoyed reading blogs and I thought it was about time I tried it for myself! I’ve tried it half-heartedly a few times but only managed to do about 4 posts :) this time I think (hope) it’ll be different! I think it’s the photography element that scares me a little as I’m no photographer! combined with having such a shaky hand certainly doesn't help. Hopefully I will learn as my blog progresses :) so just bear with (does that phrase remind anyone else of Miranda?) I always class myself as being a fairly average 19 year old, I like doing normal things and sadly don’t have any strange talents, although I can balance a spoon on my nose, as amazing as I used to think this was, it has since been shattered, as according to my flat mate most people can do it! Can you balance a spoon on your nose? I’d love to know!

Just a quick list of thing I like:
Flowers
Pastel colours
Cakes- lemon drizzle and carrot cake are personal favourites
Egg and cress sandwiches (preferably on granary bread)
Macaroons – although I only tried them for the first time the other day! I’ve always wanted to try them as they’re so pretty but I was worried they would disappoint :) luckily they didn’t!
Cats
Puppies
Fashion
Old buildings
&
Pretty interiors..to name a few!

This blog will perhaps include some outfit posts, probably some recipes  along with what I’ve been buying recently! and mostly a lot of random rambling about my fairly mundane life.

I think that’s probably enough about me for now! ( I over use exclamation marks way too much)

Hope you have a great week!
